Configuring the Org chart plus Free version
After adding the Org chart plus Free version Webpart to a page, put the page in edit mode and click on the icon to pull up and manage the Org chart plus Free version Settings.
Org chart plus Free version settings:
1. Data
- Top User’s Email to Show in Chart: This field displays the primary email address of the user whose information will be reflected in the org chart. It indicates which user's details will be used as a reference point for chart generation.
- Clear User Data Cache: This button clears the locally stored user data cache. If a user’s org chart or data changes, clearing the cache ensures that the most current data will be retrieved from the source (such as Microsoft Graph).

2. Licensing
- This section likely pertains to license management, though details about the licensing itself are not fully visible. In the free version, users may have limited access to this feature, while paid versions may allow more flexibility in managing licenses across multiple users or teams.
3. Query Filters
Query Filters allow users to pre-filter data from sources like Microsoft Graph before it is retrieved, making data requests more efficient and specific. However, in the free version, this functionality is disabled.
4. Post Filters
This feature is not available. Post Filters allow users to refine and filter data after it has been retrieved, offering flexibility to adjust and narrow down the organizational data once it's already in the system. This can be especially useful for creating more specific org charts by filtering for department, job title, email, employee ID, or office location after the initial data has been pulled.
However, in the free version, users do not have access to this functionality. This means that once data is retrieved, it cannot be further filtered or refined directly within the tool. Users must work with the full set of data that has been imported, which can be more challenging if trying to focus on particular departments or roles.
5. Rendering
The free version of Org Chart Plus gives users access to flexible chart orientation and layout options through Collapsible Tree Orientation and Collapsible Tree Layout settings. These features allow users to adjust the direction of their chart (horizontal, vertical, or diagonal) and select from various tree layout styles (normal, waterfall, grid, etc.) for visually organizing their hierarchy. These options provide significant control over how the org chart is presented, even within the free version, offering enough flexibility for basic org charting needs.
For more advanced rendering options like Single Page Tree Layout and Chart Render Style, users would need to upgrade to the premium version.
· Collapsible Tree Orientation
This feature allows you to define the direction and flow of the chart, giving users flexibility in how the chart is visually organized. In the free version, users can choose from multiple orientation options:
- Top to Bottom (Vertical): The chart hierarchy is displayed from the top (root node) to the bottom, following a vertical flow.
- Bottom to Top (Vertical): The hierarchy flows upward, starting from the bottom and moving towards the top of the chart.
- Right to Left (Horizontal): The chart is oriented horizontally, starting from the right and flowing leftwards.
- Left to Right (Horizontal): This orientation starts on the left side of the screen and flows horizontally towards the right.
- Top Left to Bottom Right (Vertical): The hierarchy flows diagonally, from the top left corner to the bottom right.
- Bottom Left to Top Right (Vertical): The flow starts from the bottom left corner and moves diagonally upward to the top right.
- Top Right to Bottom Left (Horizontal): The chart flows diagonally from the top right corner to the bottom left.
- Top Left to Bottom Right (Horizontal): The chart moves diagonally from the top left corner to the bottom right.
These orientation options allow users to customize the direction in which the org chart is displayed, providing flexibility in presenting the hierarchy in a manner that best suits their needs.
· Collapsible Tree Layout
This feature controls how the individual nodes (employees or departments) within the chart are structured. In the free version, the following layout options are available:
- Normal: A standard layout that organizes the chart in a traditional tree structure with balanced spacing between nodes.
- Waterfall: Nodes are arranged in a cascading, waterfall-like format, creating a more structured and descending flow.
- Tree: A basic tree layout, with nodes evenly spread out in a hierarchical tree formation.
- Tree Left Offset: Nodes are positioned with a slight leftward offset, creating a visually distinctive structure where each branch leans left.
- Tree Right Offset: This layout is similar to the left offset but shifts nodes slightly to the right for a different visual effect.
- Tree Left: This structure aligns the tree's branches towards the left side of the chart.
- Tree Right: The opposite of the "Tree Left" layout, this option aligns branches towards the right.
- Grid: Nodes are arranged in a grid-like format, offering a more structured and evenly distributed layout that may suit charts with more complexity or equal divisions in hierarchy.
