Adding news sources to the feed
- After adding the News Cloud Part® to a page, the user can click on the
icon to configure the feed.
- Choose from any of the dozens of news sources under the by expanding the
section.

If the news source you want isn’t listed, and you know the RSS feed URL for it, (i.e. a blog or a lesser-known news source), you can click on Add a custom RSS Feed . (See screenshot below).
Browsing through articles in the feed
Your feed will automatically be populated with articles from the news sources you’ve selected. All you have to do is scroll down through the webpage to view the feed. If there’s an article you want to read, simply click on it and it will open in a new browser tab for you to view.
To group articles by their source, make sure the Merged News Feed is unchecked in the View Setting.
Now you can easily view articles based on their source.
Removing a News Feed
Any news feed can be removed by clicking on the , expanding the Remove News Feed section, and then clicking remove from feed next to the news source. Feeds can also be re-added by clicking on the
icon and selecting Add News Feed.
Merged vs Unmerged View
You have two options for how you’d like to view the articles from your selected new sources.
- Merged
Choosing the Merged News Feed option will merge all selected news sources to one feed, with articles sorted by descending publishing date.
- Unmerged
Leaving the Merged News Feed box unchecked will separate the articles by news source, located on the left-hand side of the cloud part.
This will also give you the option to set the default news feed to come up when you first navigate to the page.
Restricting the
Icon
If you are an admin-level user of the current SharePoint site, clicking on the icon and expanding the "Permissions" section will allow you to prevent the News Cloud Part® from being configured by non-admins. Checking the box will hide the configuration wizard from non-admin users.
Note: Non-admin users will still be able to see to news feed, but they will not have access to click on the icon to configure the Cloud Part®.
