Creating a New Carousel Library
Once you have installed Carousel on your page, click the in the top right corner of Cloud Part®.
This will bring up the Edit Carousel Settings panel. From here you can set a number of general settings like the maximum number of slides you want, as well as the width and height of the carousel.
Under the section ‘Select Carousel Library,’ make sure that ‘Create a new library’ is selected.
Next in the Carousel Name field, give your new carousel a title.
Click ‘Create Library.’ This will create a new document library on your SharePoint site where you can upload images, which will automatically become slides.
Next, click Edit Slides. This will open the newly created document library in a new tab in your browser. Click the upload button, or drag and drop your photos to the library to upload them to the website.
Once you have uploaded the photos you want, go back to the browser tab with the Edit Carousel Settings on it and click Save.
Your new Carousel library is now created and running.
Customizing the Carousel Slides
Click the icon on the top right corner of the Carousel Cloud Part®. Under the ‘Select Carousel Library’ click the drop down and choose the library you’d like to customize. Then click Edit Slides. This will open the carousel library of your choosing in a new tab.
To customize a slide in this Carousel library, right-click on the icon next to the image name. Then click on Properties.
From here, you can edit the slide headline, body, link, and expiration date. All fields are optional.
- The value in the Title field will display as the slide headline
- The value in the Body field will display as the slide body.
- The URL and description entered in the URL field will be rendered as a button that links the user to that URL.
- Use the ExpDate field to enter an expiration date for the slide. A slide will not be included in the carousel if its expiration date has passed.
When you are done editing the slides, go back to the tab that has Edit Carousel Settings on it and click Save.
Below is an example of how the settings will appear on the carousel slideshow.
Installing Multiple Carousels
Installing multiple carousel instances on your SharePoint site is simple.
Click on the edit option at the top right of the page.
Click on the Insert tab, then click on Web Part. In the Categories section, navigate to the Miscellaneous folder, then click on Carousel, and finally click the Add button.
This will add a second Carousel instance to your page.
Click on the button at the top left of the screen to stop editing the page.
You have now installed multiple Carousel Cloud Parts® on your SharePoint page. To customize this second library just repeat the steps for Creating a New Carousel Library and Customize a Carousel Library.
