Configuring the Data-Viewer Web Part
After installing the Data-Viewer product to your app catalog and licensing the product using our Tenant Manager, you will see one new web part available for you to add to a page.
To begin, add this webpart to any page and click the blue “Configure Data Viewer” button:

This webpart allows you to configure your data viewer chart with your preferred parent list and any nested list you would like to add. Here you can establish rules, relationships, calculations, and custom styling; there is even a step by step tour of the webpart available.
Data-Viewer Fields—Data Source Type:
- Enter a Site URL Containing the SharePoint List or Library – SharePoint Site URL:
- Type in your URL, this will auto-populate with the current domain/site collection of the page you are working on
- Press load to populate options into the next field
- Select a SharePoint List or Library to Display:
- This is a dropdown populated with existing lists and library from the link you entered in the previous field
- Select Columns to Display
- Click this button and checkmark the columns that you would like to be displayed in the data-viewer
- Description:
- This auto populates with the SharePoint data associated with the list or library you select in the "Select a SharePoint List" step
- List or Library Type:
- This auto populates with the SharePoint data associated with the list or library you select in the "Select a SharePoint List" step
- Manage Date-Time
- Toggle whether to show date fields with or without times
- Folders or Flat
- A radio button option to display the list either with folders or as a flat view
- First Sort by the Column
- Select the first column you would like the list to be sorted by
- You can choose to order this column in ascending or descending order
- Then sort by column
- Select the second column you would like the list to be sorted by
- You can choose to order this column in ascending or descending order
- Configure Item Filtering
- You can choose to create a custom filter on the list or use an existing view on that list or library
- Define Item Grouping
- You can select the first and second columns by which you would like to group, each can be sorted by ascending or descending order
- You can choose whether the groupings should show up collapsed or expanded by default
- Limit item Checkbox
- You can limit the number of items per page and/or the total number of items that can appear in the webpart
- Save button saves your changes
- Reset button clears the above form
Data-Viewer Fields—Data Analysis |Nested Data Settings:
- Display Nested Data
- Check this box to show a list nested under the list identified in the data source type tab
- Select a SharePoint List or Library to Display
- Select your list you would like to display as a nested list
- Select Columns to Display
- Click this button and checkmark the columns that you would like to be displayed in the data-viewer
- Link Parent and Nested Data Sources (this data should match)
- Nested Data Source Column
- This column should identify the key field from the nested list
- Parent Data Source Column
- This column should identify the key field from the parent list
- Both key fields from the parent and nested list must be selected in the “columns to display” section for the nesting to function
- Nested Data Source Column
- Folders or Flat
- A radio button option to display the list either with folders or as a flat view
- First Sort by the Column
- Select the first column you would like the list to be sorted by
- You can choose to order this column in ascending or descending order
- Then sort by column
- Select the second column you would like the list to be sorted by
- You can choose to order this column in ascending or descending order
- Configure Item Filtering

- Define Parent List Conditional Formatting Rules: Add Rule
- This allows you to add a rule to the parent list to change the formatting and appearance of your parent list
- Define Nested List Conditional Formatting Rules: Add Rule
- This allows you to add a rule to the nested list to change the formatting and appearance of your nested list
- Save button saves your changes
- Reset button clears the form
Data-Viewer Fields—Data Analysis |Calculation:
- Define Parent List Data Calculations: Add a Rule
- Allows you to make calculations with columns in the parent list and determine where and how they appear in your data-viewer webpart
- Define Nested List Data Calculations: Add a Rule
- Allows you to make calculations with columns in the nested list and determine where and how they appear in your data-viewer webpart

- Select Accent
- Pick a color theme from a pre-set list of colors
- Custom styling
- Use CSS to style your data-viewer
- Custom Height and Width
- Customize the height and width of your data-viewer webpart
- Define Column Header
- Allow hide header: Hides column headers
- Allow header format: Gives you formatting options for the headers of the columns
- Save button saves your changes
- Reset button clears the form
